How to prepare for your very first bridal appointment

The time has come: you wake up in the morning andrealise that the day is finally here: your first ever bridal appointment. You are, assumably, feeling very excited, however you also may also be experiencing some anxiety which is perfectly normal. The fact that you could potentially find your dress that you will be wearing on your wedding day instantly fills you with elation. There are, however, some things that you need to know before stepping foot into that very first bridal boutique, but don't panic: Tiaras & Tulle are providing you with a list of factors to consider so that when you enter that door, you are confident that you know everything you need to know.

  1. Research Bridal Gown Styles on Pinterest

We cannot express enough how important it is to have a vague idea of what style you are looking for in your wedding dress, therefore Pinterest is the perfect platform for you to gain some style inspiration. You can create your own style board with images that have inspired you, which you can show to your bridal stylist, allowing her to understand your vision.

2. Do your makeup and hair in a similar way to what you want it to look like on the day

We highly recommend wearing a similar style of makeup and hair to how you are planning for it to look on your big day, because this will enable you to properly envision how the dress will look. Make sure that you don't overdo it though, because harsh makeup may distract you when analysing the overall look of a dress!

3. Make sure you have plenty to eat and drink beforehand!

Okay, this may seem like an obvious one, but it is crucial that you are hydrated and that you have a healthy, nutricious meal before attending your appointment, because you will be surprised at how exhasuting trying bridal gowns on is, especially if you are planning on trying on ballgowns! This will also enable you to feel much more calm and relaxed, and additionally more focused on the dresses that you are trying on, as opposed to what you will be having for lunch!

4. Consider who you are going to bring

You may want everybody to be there to witness your special moment, however we would highly recommend that you bring no more than three people to your appointment, because too many opinions can distract you from staying true to your own vision, as you will be worrying too much about what everybody else is thinking. On the other hand, make sure that you invite the most important people to every appointment, including your first one, because what if you find your perfect dress, and nobody is there to help you in making that all important decision?

5. Set a budget!

Although it may seem harmless to try on dresses that are three times your budget, you do not want to set yourself up for disappointment, therefore it is vital that you make your bridal stylist aware of your spending limit. Additionally, we would recommend that you make sure that the money is available at every appointment you go to, even if you initially aren't planning on making a purchase that day, because many bridal gowns at boutiques are limited edition, and you do not want to risk losing out on your dream dress.
